The first thing that I follow most is honesty this helps me to establish rapport and trust. I am flexible which means being willing to adjust techniques and approaches to meet the learning styles of the student. I am patient and is not show annoyance in my speech or body language. I am a good listener and learn to pick up clues in my student’s speech that enable me to understand how he is really feeling. I am a professional and willing to share my own experiences. By sharing information about what I have encountered, the student may feel relieved that he is not alone. Sharing experiences and lessons learned goes a long way toward building trust and support. It also helps the student build self-confidence. I love to view the tutor-student relationship as a partnership and work with him/her to supplement thoughts, habits-making ideas, personality management, success management, personality management, broad knowledge areas, study materials, and individual study. As a tutor, my ultimate goal is to help the student become an independent learners. I am confident and have the courage to admit if I don’t know an answer. I am always honest with my student and tell him /her they’ll need to do their homework.
